I am so sorry everyone that I have been so busy lately, I have been swamped with a few wedding dilemmas and also with work as well. It’s been another busy few weeks and it is starting to feel like everything is calming down again. I wonder how long that quiet period will last though hahaha!
The end of September and early October have been an exciting time for me in terms of skincare, I have been so incredibly lucky to have had the chance to go to Seoul and shop up a Korean skincare storm, been able to treat myself to some new skincare products in which I have been admiring for some time and also been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be sent some products from some wonderful companies. For me, I love skincare and being able to play and test new things at the end of the day (or in the morning if I have the time to!) is something that I really do enjoy and look forward to. I have been exposed to some fantastic new products as of late and I am so grateful to be able to try so many new things. The problem with new products is that, because they are so new to my routines, I haven’t had a really good chance to try the product thoroughly. However, I thought I would share some of my first impressions with some of the products that I have been playing around with as of late. Keep in mind that these are first impressions only and a more thorough review will pop up on the blog in due course!
Anything marked with a * has been kindly gifted to me and these companies have in no way pressured or asked me to review their items. I am simply writing about these items as I have been trialling them lately and I am sure some of you would like to hear what my experiences have been like with these products!
Omorovicza Instant Perfection Serum* and Omorovicza Oxygen Booster*
I haven’t been sleeping really well as of late and the tiredness has started to show on my skin at times. I have been using the Omorovicza Instant Perfection Serum in conjunction with the Omorovicza Oxygen booster (and you will have often seen this teamed up with the Allies of Skin 1A All Day Mask as well on the really bad days!) to give my skin that extra lift it needs. I have found that when using these two products together, my skin instantly feels and looks firmer, brighter, hydrated and most importantly alive and ready to face to the day. I feel like I look more human (less zombie) and much more alive and awake, no matter how little sleep I have had the night before. For me, the two products together is like a mini face lift in a bottle as the difference it makes in a tired looking complexion is amazing. My skin instantly looks revitalised and refreshed from using these. So far, I have really enjoyed using the two products from Omorovicza as they have been a skin saviour for tired and weary days.
These two products are available on the Omorovicza website, with the Instant Perfection Serum is USD$160 for 30ml and the Oxygen Booster is USD$155 for 15ml.
Go-To-Skincare Pinky Nudey Lips
I recently repurchased my favourite lip balm, the Go-To-Skincare Lips but in my purchase, I also decided to give the new Pinky Nudey Lips a go as well. The formula of this is still the same formula I absolutely love of the plain Lips lipbalm, but this time with an added bit of colour and also an SPF. The colour of this is a really universally flattering sheer pink nude colour that reminds me a little bit of NARS Dolce Vita except with moisturising benefits. I love the look of this on my lips as it adds a bit of colour to my face (especially on those no makeup days) but it also keeps dry cracked lips at bay.
Pinky Nudey Lips! is availble only on the Go-to-skincare website for AUD$17 for 15g.
Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Cream*
This moisturiser has a really interesting whipped mousse texture that I will admit doesn’t look very appealing to begin with. It does however melts and sinks into the skin incredibly well once applied to the skin or rubbed into the palm of the hands. For a product that at first glance seems too rich and indulgent for my combination skin, this actually works extremely well as a night cream or for when I just need a little bit more hydration for my skin. It is in no way as rich as it might seem as it really does sink in quite nicely on to the face and doesn’t leave a greasy or oily residue. It works really well to seal in products like face oils and it also works quite well to calm down any redness. Overall I am pleasantly surprised with the Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Cream, I think it feels really nice on the skin. It might be just a bit too heavy to use on a hot Australian summer’s day but this works an absolute treat in the evening as it helps to calm the skin down but also helps to nourish and hydrate the skin, revealing a plump and fresh complexion in the morning.
The Algenist Genius is available from Sephora USA for USD$112 for 60ml or the Algenist website for USD$112 with worldwide shipping.
Cremorlab White Bloom Floral Toner*
This product has been a very recent addition to my skincare stash but can I just say how throughly impressed I am with how this has performed? I recently had a few spots on my skin due to hormones which have left a mark on my cheek. Since I started using this just last week (and I have used this at least once a day), these marks have started to fade quite quickly. It has only been a week and I can happily say that they are well on their way to disappearing! This toner also has a beautiful smell to this and is also quite hydrating on the the skin. After lightly tapping this into my skin, it feels smooth and well prepared to take on my other skincare steps. It hasn’t been too long since I have started using this but it probably has been one of my favourite finds so far this month as not only have I seen fast results but it just leaves my skin so soft after application.
The Cremorlab White Bloom Floral Toner can be purchased from Aniqa Australia for AUD$43 and was also part of the recent Maslow&Co Beauty Box for Korea.
SU:M37 Secret Essence
I have had a lot of people ask me about this on Instagram and I haven’t been using this for so long but I can happily say that so far, so good. I didn’t quite know what to expect with the Secret Essence but the results I have seen so far are quite promising. I have been using this at least once almost every day since I first opened this and I can say that my skin as a whole really enjoys this essence. Whilst there have been no huge life changing alterations in my skin, I have noticed some small differences since using this. I think that my skin as whole does feel and look more plump than what it normally does. It seems quite really hydrated – so hydrated in fact that I feel like I almost don’t need to use my beloved Hydraluron religiously anymore. I find that it feels really cooling on the skin, especially after exfoliation and it does work quite well to help soothe the skin and calm down any redness. I love the SU:M37 Secret Essence in terms of its texture, look and feel and I find that so far in the month that I have been using it, there have been some differences in my skin’s elasticity as it does feel quite smooth and soft. It is still early days to see if lives up to its other claims and I really want to test this throughly before I review it.
You can purchase SU:M37 Secret Essence 100ml via Alice at w2beauty for USD$75.50
Sodashi Skincare Calming Serum
It’s spring time in Australia which means that allergies and hayfever are at an ultimate high for myself. I found that on really, really bad days I have been turning to this little bottle of Calming Serum by Sodashi Skincare. This has been quite the god send in calming down my skin if it gets really hot, itchy and extremely uncomfortable and I have found that when I use this, the calming effect is almost instant. It is also quite lightweight which makes it perfect to use all over the face in the daytime and it sits really well underneath other products such as other oils, serums, moisturisers or make-up. It contains about 12 organic botanical oils that help to restore, nourish and calm the skin including rosehip seed oil, apricot kernal oil, German chamomile and Roman chamomile to name a few. I find that this oil not only helps to calm the skin but it is also incredibly nourishing due to its ingredients listing.
The Sodashi Calming Serum comes in a 30ml bottle and can be purchased from Peachy Clean and Sodashi Skincare for AUD$106.50.
Estee Lauder Stress Relief Eye Mask
I saw this eye mask pop up months ago on some fellow Instagram skincare junkies feeds and was convinced that I just HAD to buy these. It was just a matter of when, and recently when I needed a pick me up, these eye masks from Estee Lauder were on top of my list. I have used these masks twice, once on my trip to Seoul (I needed something to hide those sleepless hours on the plane) and also recently as a lush pamper treatment. These eye masks are unlike any other eye treatment I have used before as it really, really helped to de-puff those puffy eyes and my dark circles? So much brighter and extremely easy to hide underneath some foundation or concealer (I required very little!). These made my eye area so much brighter, alive and awake looking and are I think are well worth the money if you have an upcoming event or important occasion to attend. I will definitely be using these more as I come closer to my wedding day as the results of this eye mask is unlike anything else I have used.
These are available at most department stores, I purchased these from David Jones Australia for AUD$68 for a box of 10.
CosRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser
I purchased this cleanser from Seoul in my recent travels and it was very much an impulse buy. For the price, this is quite a solid cleanser and whilst I have enjoyed using it, it is nothing ground breaking. For me it is a great morning cleanser or second cleanser in the evening as it’s not the best at removing make-up. When using this, you will find that the skin feels quite clean without feeling stripped of it’s natural oils due to its optimal pH level which helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier function. I think that for it’s price point its a fantastic cleanser as it is simple, easy to use and cleanses the skin well without drying it out. Whilst it is a good cleanser, it doesn’t excite me and I don’t enjoy the cleansing process when I do use this. I have found that I now just use this when I am in a rush to get out of the door in the morning!
The CosRx Low pH Good Morning Cleanser can be purchased from Wishtrend for USD$9.35
Lilfox Miami Chlorophyll and Tourmaline Brightening Mask
I have used this mask once and of this one encounter with this mask, I have been quite impressed with the results as it really does brighten the complexion and my skin feels oh so soft and smooth once I wash this off. I did manage to scare the Mr with this mask on as it is SO green, most likely from the French green clay, chlorophyll, spirulina and matcha green tea powder used in the formulation.
I haven’t used this mask again since last week as I do feel I need to be slightly cautious with how often I used this mask as it does have a slight tingle on the skin and my cheeks do become quite red. I have had no reactions or anything to this mask and as mentioned before, it does leave the skin glowing and so incredibly soft and smooth, so the redness doesn’t concern me. I just know that going forward that this mask is ideally to be used perhaps once or twice a week with an incredibly nourishing oil or serum to follow.
The Brightening Mask from Lilfox Miami can be purchased directly from the Lilfox website for USD$68.00
